Help
Everything Sparkship can do, in plain words. Can’t find your answer? Use the Feedback button in the menu, and we’ll help.
Getting started
On the home screen, describe what you’d like to create, in your own words, the way you would tell a friend: “A page for my yoga classes on Tuesdays, with prices and a way to sign up.” Then press the arrow.
If you like, choose a Style first (a feeling such as “Warm and handmade” or “Calm and minimal”). Otherwise Sparkship chooses a look that fits your idea.
The first version takes about two minutes. While it’s being designed you see what’s happening; then the page appears on the right and keeps improving until it’s done. Details you didn’t give (names, prices, dates) are invented so the page looks complete; the message at the end tells you what to check.
Changing your page
Write in the chat what you’d like different, for example “add our opening hours at the bottom” or “make it feel warmer”. Every change is saved as a new version.
Under the message box you can choose Build (make the change) or Talk it through (think out loud together; nothing on your page changes). Talking it through is good for planning, or for questions like “what should a good portfolio page have?”.
While a change is being made you can press Stop; your page goes back to how it was before.
Changing text yourself
For small corrections (a typo, a price, a date) you don’t need to ask. Click the pencil above your page, click any text and type. Change as many texts as you like; a bar at the bottom shows how many changes are waiting.
Press Save (or switch the pencil off) and all your changes are saved together, in a second or two, as one version. Discard puts the original text back. Text editing is free.
If a text appears in several places, Sparkship asks the builder to change it for you, which takes a little longer.
Pointing at a part
Click the arrow above your page, then click any part of it: a heading, a picture, a whole section. A blue label appears in the message box. Now say what to change, for example “make this bigger” or “use a photo of mountains here”, and only that part is changed.
Colours, typefaces and the look
Click Design above your page for instant changes that cost nothing: Calmer, Bolder, Another colour palette, Another font pair, or Show me 3 other looks to see your own page in three different styles side by side.
Match a picture I love takes the colours from a photo you like. You can always ask in the chat for anything more specific, such as “use dark green and gold”.
Pictures, documents and photos
You can give the builder anything that helps: paste a picture or screenshot into the message box, drop files onto the chat, or use the paperclip. Pictures, PDFs, Word documents and text files work (up to 4 MB each). For example: attach your menu and write “put this menu on my page”.
For pages about places, food, activities or services, the builder also adds fitting free photos from Unsplash, each with a small credit to the photographer (Unsplash asks for that). You can search them yourself too: Design → Find a free photo.
Free photos are only used for atmosphere. Your own products, your art, your rooms and your people should be your own photos: just attach them and say where they belong.
Undo and versions
Undo takes back the last change. Versions lists every version of your page, newest first; “Go back to this” returns to any of them. Nothing is ever lost: even going back can be undone.
Publishing and sharing
When you’re happy, press Publish, choose a short name (letters, numbers and dashes) and confirm. About a minute later your page is live at its own address, and you can share it by WhatsApp, email or a copied link.
Changes you make afterwards stay private until you press Publish again. Unpublish takes the page offline at once. Every published page has a small “Report this page” link, so visitors can tell us about misuse.
Replies from your forms
When people fill in a form on your app (a message, a sign-up, an RSVP), their reply is stored safely and appears in Responses in your project. You can download all replies as a spreadsheet. Replies sent while you try your app in the preview are marked as tests.
Selling something: your payment link
Your app can have a “Buy” button. When someone presses it, it opens a payment page that belongs to you, so the money goes straight to you. Sparkship never sees card details.
To get a payment link:
- Stripe Payment Links (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay): create a free account at stripe.com, then go to Payment Links → New. Enter what you sell and the price, and copy the link. It starts with
https://buy.stripe.com/. - PayPal.me: in your PayPal account, create your PayPal.me link. It looks like
https://paypal.me/yourname. - Other links that work: Revolut.me, Gumroad, Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee and Lemon Squeezy.
Then paste the link into the chat, for example: “Here is my payment link for the class: https://buy.stripe.com/…”. I’ll connect the button.
Limits during the test
Sparkship is free while we test it. To keep it that way for everyone, each person can make a number of requests to the builder per day (shown when you reach it). Text edits, Design changes, Undo and publishing don’t count. Published pages keep running whatever happens.
